The Adventures of Captain Pumpkin Head has made its way into a few book clubs for kids!  To help get the discussions going, we’ve put together a list of fun questions.  Enjoy!

Kid’s Book Club Questions

• Who is your favorite pumpkin and why? Which villain(s) scared you the most?

• What was your favorite part of the book?

• Do you think you would enjoy visiting Pumpkin Patch Peninsula? Which activities sound like they would be the most fun?

• Where do you think the Sunstone came from? Pumpkin legend says it was buried in a meteorite that crash-landed on the peninsula. But is it really from an alien world? If so, does that mean there are pumpkins in other parts of the universe?

• Do you blame Scotty the Scarecrow for betraying the Captain and his friends? After all, the Captain seemed to forgive him.

• What’s the deal with Lieutenant Pumpkin Bread? Is he bad for the posse, or just misunderstood?

• Which of the Captain’s raps did you like the best?

• Do you have any theories about how to unlock the full magic of the Sunstone? Can it be done?

• Hopefully there will be a sequel to the first book! Do you have any fun ideas for new pumpkin characters? If so, what would you name them?

• At the beginning of the book, the Captain mentions that there are gangly ghosts, freakish ghouls, sly goblins, crazy clowns, and even the occasional vicious vampire on the peninsula (these are in addition to the witches, zombies, and bats!). Which of these sound the scariest? Do you have ideas for other cool villains?
